In the Devon County Section three Men’s Singles, Ottery was very successful when two of their men, Terry House and John Ward, fought it out in the final, where Terry emerged winner, writes Peter Bebb.

In the Foxlands Home and Away Competition Ottery beat Honiton. T House, D Rose, E Saunders, H Channon lost at home 14-18; J Ward, P Jones, P Richards, W Taylor won away 14-23, the result an overall win for Ottery 37-22.

In the County Trophy, another home and away competition, Ottery won again over Honiton: T House, C Martin, E Saunders, H Channon lost 17-18; D Brown, G Kille, D Rose, M Smith won 22-17 both at home. Away J Ward, P Jones, P Richards, W Taylor won 20-14; G Temple, T Luff, J Candy, D Dalton lost 18-20 and Ottery won overall 77-69.

In the Unbadged Pairs G Kille and M Smith had a good win over a pair from Madeira 23-7. In other games, the first two rounds of the club triples were played on Saturday, but the Sunday’s round had to be postponed because of the weather. The final is to be played on Finals Day in August.

In a friendly at home against Hemyock, Ottery lost 75-77 D Rastall, A Howells, M Hunt (skip) 19-8; D O'Keeffe, D Hunt, D Dalton(skip) 15-16; S Snelling, J Bebb, T House (skip) 15-12 ; B Scurr, P Bebb, M Bright (skip) 13-16; S Kenny, R Johnson, J George (skip) 13-15.
