Sidmouth Town Reserves went down 3-1 when they hosted Macron League Division One red-hot title favourites Henry’s Cronies.
Playing a side strengthened by the inclusion of several players who have played a t a higher level, the Vikings were up for the challenge
After last weeks dismal performance a better showing was needed, and it was indeed delivered.
Cronies took the lead in the 20th minute, but the Vikings stayed in the game and Ferenc Bodor was inches away from an equaliser
On the stroke of half-time Cronies doubled their lead from a corner
The second goal was harsh on the Vikings, but a determined second half saw Town push their opponents all the way before conceding a third
Ollie Jarrett claimed a consolation goal heading home from a corner.
This Saturday Town are again at home when they entertain Colyton (2.15pm).
