The final Sidmouth Jewellers Friday night league has finally run its course and with the changing of the clocks, we are into winter golf with preferred lies and, hopefully, some crisp dry days to look forward to, writes John Barnard.
The first-time winner this week was Timothy O’Leary with 36 points. A bit of a struggle around the turn, but a better back nine with a birdie two (one of only two and worth over £10 each) on the 15th proved just enough.
Ian Watson was second with 35 points, a seven on the seventeenth costing him a win.
Aston Puckey’s birdie on the eighteenth was enough to get him third place ahead of club captain Richard Powell and Kevin Legg, who all scored 34 points.
Kevin Legg convincingly won the Sidmouth Jewellers Friday night league, scoring an excellent 165 points, with Mark Thomas in second place, scoring 118, just pipping Harrison Jones on the last day to push him into third.
