The Charles Stanley Monday Stableford played at Sidmouth Golf Club attracted a field of over 70 players and was won by club treasurer John Barnard, writes John Rockey.

Barnard managed to record all the scores correctly and add them up properly to amass his 38 points and take the competition!

His round started quite unspectacularly having dropped eight shots in the first eight holes, but he came back in level par and his birdie at the last hole enabled him to just hold on to the top spot.

Second with 37 points was Terry O’Brien who also birdied the last hole to consolidate second place from Moray Boscence who came third with a par score of 36 points.

The handicap reduction committee obviously had a bad day and decided that the first three players in this competition deserved a one shot reduction to their handicaps and so the club treasurer now plays off 10 again and gives the rest of us a better chance of taking some money from him.
