Members of Sidmouth Tennis Club are looking forward to this Sunday morning as it is the last in the current series of open sessions, an important element in its drive for new members. The earlier sessions have seen a number of local residents, keen to start playing the game or resurrecting a former interest in the sport visit the club premises, situated at the end of Fortfield Terrace. The thatched pavilion houses the changing facilities, bar and refreshment areas, together with seating either to watch the tennis or the cricket, with Lyme Bay as a backdrop. The visitors were shown around the facilities, encouraged to play a series of games on the recently resurfaced courts and given a copy of the recently produced brochure. A number of those who attended the first session made a return visit last Sunday and, as a result, the club's membership already shows a number of new names. Those interested will receive a warm welcome on Sunday morning from 10am onwards. If unable to attend, further information can be obtained by phoning Guy Patton on (01395) 519635 or Grant Whillance on (01395) 514558.
