Kept out by Central’s keeper

Sidmouth started brightly and created several chances for Ollie Tollerfield, Ricki Harris, Sam Cox and Barnesy, writes Scott Newbery.

None of these chances were taken due to good saves from the Central Keeper and poor shooting.

Sidmouth looked shaky at the back and were creating their own problems and were lucky that Central's shots were always off target, meaning it was 0-0 at half time.

In the second half, it was exactly the same, with Sidmouth dominating but struggling to defend from counter-attacks but they took the lead 10 minutes into the second half when a shot by Barnesy was well saved by the Central keeper, only for it to fall to Luke Warriner to make it 1-0.

Sidmouth then got their passing going in the centre of the pitch with good play from Cox, Tollerfield, Beckenham, Warriner and JJ.

Sidmouth extended their lead when Tollerfield scored from a tight angle that was reminiscent of Van Persie's goal in midweek.

Central got back into the game and thought they had a penalty when keeper Scott Newbery beat the striker to the ball. He knocked it out for a corner, only for the striker to go down under the challenge, but the referee turned down the appeals and poor marking from the corner led to a Central player having a free header to make it 2-1.
