Eighteen Sidmouth players made the long trip to Kingsbridge where they came up against a well-organised team, writes Sam Channing.

Sid got straight into the thick of things and good teamwork soon paid off when they earned a penalty. It was taken quickly and passed through the line to Hubble on the wing who scored, with Harris converting.

Sid kept defending but strong runs from Kingsbridge saw them run in a couple of tries. The second half saw Sid more determined to win as much ball as they could and some excellent scrimmaging saw them get plenty to work with.

Their next score came from Hubble again who showed strength and speed to get through, with Lowe adding the extra points before Harris made a darting run through the middle of the field to score and convert his own try.

Sidmouth threw everything they had at the game but luck was obviously not on their side as time ran out to find the levelling score. It was a fantastic team performance and, who knows, maybe when they meet again the result might be on their side.

Kingsbridge U10 3, Sidmouth U10s 4

Forwards Ben Hushon, Peaky and Fin Jonson supplied plenty of ball to set Sidmouth alight, writes Craig Morgan.

Stampy duly roared through the blue defence to open the scoring. Last year's Devon Festival finalists soon came back and evened the scores. Will Kennaugh, having distributed the ball well from scrum half, steamed over in inimitable fashion shortly followed by Finlay Morgan pouncing on a Kingsbridge fumble over their try line. Kennaugh ripped through their defence from close in to add a fourth.

Kingsbridge U10s 4, Sidmouth U10s 1

Jacob Spencer came close to his first try only to be bundled out just short. Max Dix did extremely well to continue, after head-butting the ground hard !

An end to end match ended in a 4-1 defeat for Sidmouth - probably a just result for the friendly South Devon team.

This was the U9s’ first trip to Kingsbridge who have beaten all-comers this season, writes Mark Williams.

Sidmouth were missing nine regulars but, as usual, no need to worry despite many players having to play in both matches!

They tore into Kingsbridge with gusto, quickly forging a 10-0 lead leaving the Kingsbridge team and coaches scratching their heads. In the second half Kingsbridge scored but immediately Sidmouth restored their 10 point advantage and comfortably won 15-1.

The second game proved closer but still Kingsbridge had few answers to Sidmouth's strong running and tackling. Sidmouth won 10-5 with a try in each half.

Everyone agreed that both teams played very well and the spectators were treated to rugby with somewhat more passion than we saw at Sandy Park the previous evening!
