Simon Knowles came to the fore in an individual stableford contested on Sunday, writes George Carr.
Knowles carded a sound 41 points for first place and a very useful £42 voucher. Birdies on the fourth and 18th helping him on his way, clear by one from Carl Sheehan (£25) on 40 points who got off to a flyer, birdieing first, second and sixth holes, though both players failed to score on the usually friendly par-five 13th hole.
John Eaton produced some steady golf for 37 points and third place and £17 in vouchers, well done indeed.
Knowles and Sheehan were catapulted to the top of the winter league, this individual Sunday competition being worth ten and nine points respectively leaves Knowles and Sheehan tied in first place on 17 points, while Neil Faulkner and Derek Platten are only a point adrift and Mark Thomas’s five points this week keeps him in touch on 14 points.
Sunday golf - where nothing is ever same - what’s not to like?
