The Fields Cup was played for on April 16 as a Medal and a putting competition that again proved to be one of the most popular events on the calendar as there was a entry of 42 players. Those who played in the competition were later joined in the clubhouse by both social members and guests; it was good to meet again with some of the ladies who have joined as social members this year due to various circumstances.Brian Dowie, with his inimitable style, compred the Fields Fashion Show, ably assisted by Sarah Cooper telling the ladies about the various outfits modelled by some of the members. Pam Clay with her team of helpers took over the Ladies' Lounge as the dressing room, getting the ladies in and out of the clothes that varied from trendy casual to posh frocks suitable for more glamorous occasions. During an interval in the fashion show, Ann Willoughby, Ladies' Handicap Secretary, announced the competition winners. Penny Lyne had the only 2 of the day and she also won the putting competition with 30 putts. In third place for the Medal was Coral Roberts with a nett 73, in second place was Maria Clapp with a nett 70 and the winner was Sheila Thomson with a nett 69. Sheila also won the Field's Cup which Brian Dowie presented. Both Maria and Sheila enjoyed handicap reductions again.Ladies' captain Margaret Deuce thanked Fields of Sidmouth for their continued support to the Ladies' section and paid tribute to Ladies' vice captain Lee Warren for the work that she had put in to the organisation of this event, although unfortunately Lee wasn't able to be there on the day.
