As the starting whistle blew, the Sidmouth& Ottery Ladies 1st XI knew that they had a tough match ahead of them, previously drawing 2-2 against The Bristollians, writes Molly Adkin.

However, as the first half got under way Sidmouth and Ottery HC came out on top, maintaining a high standard of triangular passing and a lot of the possession. The home defence came under pressure at times, but due to good marking and communication the ball was soon back into their attacking half.

SOHC were finally rewarded for their efforts when Maisie Pritchard scored an excellent straight-strike from the edge of the D, leaving the home team 1-0 up. SOHC reapplied the pressure as soon as play resumed, with a short corner quickly leading to another brilliant goal, showcasing great teamwork between Lea Pidgeon and Nicky Bishop.

The away team continued to struggle against the dominant SOHC, unable to make use of their chances. As the game drew to an end the home side came to a comfortable win of 2-0, winning an important match which sets them up well for the rest of the season. Player of the Match was won jointly by Chloe Munn and Maisie Pritchard.
