A last minute penalty from Frank Long gave Sidmouth Raiders Under-11s a richly deserved share of the spoils from their trip to Exeter to meet West Exe Youth.

On a hard surface due to the frost, it was the home side that adapted best to the testing conditions and they took an early lead. The Raiders response was good and after forcing a number of corners, captain Yan Mercan drilled the ball home to level things up.

In a see-saw contest it was the home side that scored next and soon after they added another to lead 3-1. However, Raiders have already shown this season that they have plenty of character in their locker and once again they refused to buckle and mounted a comeback with Miles Lewis forcing a goalkeeping error to half the arrears before Zac Lascelles levelled things up at 3-3 with a fine individual effort. Back came the home side to edge ahead again, but Raiders were not to be denied and that late Long penalty ensured they had something to return to Sidmouth with for their huge contribution to a fine game.
