In the Allstate Monday Stableford, Jonathan Lee took advantage of the absence of usual contender Neil Bunting to collect first prize with a sparkling 43 points, writes John Rockey.

Things didn’t look too good for Jonathan early on as he three putted the first green, but he dropped no further shots in his round and an eagle at the 13th together with birdies at the 17th and 18th were good enough to not only win, but reduce his handicap to three, his lowest to date.

Second was Howard Cushing with a great score of 42 points, which was good enough to reduce his handicap again and he now plays off 25.

Home from his life in the ocean waves was John Welch to secure third place with 40 points. John must lose a lot of balls whilst he is practising his drives from the stern of his Irish Sea ferry and must be delighted to get some reward for all his endeavours whilst he is away.

On the birdie front, Neil Holland moved 22 birdies ahead of the pack. However, there was some good news for Luke Sheppard who managed to get a birdie this week, but the shock was too much for him and he failed to score at the next hole and he eventually came in with a miserable 26 points.
