The Fresha Devon and Exeter League footballers are going to be busy in the second half of their season.

After another soggy season so far the matches played count against then matches to play shows that there is almost two thirds of the entire season to be played in the second half of the campaign.

With the football season traditionally running from September to April when the cricket kicks in and many football teams lose a significant number of players to the whites and leather ball sport, there are still 1,129 matches to be played throughout the nine division league.

Christmas is traditionally half way with four months gone and four months to play and in the first half of the season 670 games were played.

Most divisions have twice as many games to fit into the final four months as they managed to play in the first four!

Two sides, Exeter-based Dolphin and Mid Devon side Hemyock, who both play in Division Three, have played just eight so far and so have 22 still to negotiate.

Locally Honiton Town have the most to fit in. Kev Blackwell’s side have only played five of their programme and so must play a further 21 – and they still have cup matches to fit in.

Of the 121 teams playing across the league only 8 have completed half their matches!

Axminster Town Reserves have played more than anyone else, completing 15 of a 24-game programme.
