While it was disappointing for Sidmouth star Dom Bess to miss out on the recent second Test match for England in India, his display in the first Test has attracted global attention.
Praise from your peers and legends of the game is always special for a top-class sportsperson, and when it comes to spin bowling, Indian legend Bishan Bedi certainly knows his onions.
After Dom tore through the Indian batting line-up in the first test, including the wicket of captain Virat Kohli, Bedi believes that England have a future star on their hands.
“He’s very promising,” said Bedi in an interview with the Independent newspaper. “I’m impressed with his technical correctness and he’s young, age is on his side.
“How far he goes depends on how ambitious and how driven he is.”
Dom could well get another chance to show his spinning talents in the third Test, particularly with Moeen Ali dropping out of the tour.
