Sidmouth Raiders Under-9s had mixed fortunes in meetings with teams from Twyford Spartans.
The opening game saw them edged out by Twyford Barca by the odd goal in three. After falling behind Raiders equalised in spectacular fashion with Frank Long scoring the first of his hat-trick of the day.
When a free-kick was awarded inside his own half young Long set the ball up and promptly powered it beyond the visiting keeper!
The Tiverton-based side recovered to bag a second to win a close contest.
In the second game against Twyford Spartans it was Long who again stood out.
First he weaved his way through the visiting team, kept his balance and composure, before confidentially slotting home to open the scoring.
He then doubled his tally before Freddie Dorman, who had been a constant thorn in the Twyford side through his constant running and persistence, got a deserved third goal for hi side.
Yan Mercan capped off a strong performance by scoring the fourth and final Raiders goal with a speculative long-range shot .
Although certain individual’s demonstrated moments of outstanding skill, this performance was all about the whole team grafting and working together to produce another great win.
