Love Par or hate it

Archant

Did anyone spot the deliberate mistake or was it a belated ‘April Fool’, Sidmouth lady golfers played their March County Prize on Wednesday, April 4, writes Gill Paddon.

The ladies played it as a Par competition which you either love or hate, there is no in between. It is a game in which play is against a fixed score for each hole (known as the bogey or par); if the player scores better than par they score plus 1, 0 if they par a hole and minus 1 if they score more than par.

Twelve competitions are arranged each year and there is no handicap limit. The overall winner of the County Prize is the player with the best four aggregated scores and Devon County Ladies Golf Association provides the prize money.

The results for Wednesday’s competition were: 1, Sheila Thomson, All Square; 2, Anne Blackler minus 1; 3, Margot Beauchamp who also scored minus 1. The twos competition was a rollover and the lucky winner was Ros Eaton scooping the jackpot.

Well done everyone!
