With blustery winds and the occasional hint of drizzle in the air, 24 ladies entered the first round of the annual Rose Bowl and Rose Basket competitions.
The Rose Bowl is played for by the younger set with the Rose Basket contested by ladies over a certain age. Played on 7/8th handicap, so a non qualifier, there was also a club Stableford competition which was entered by 14 of the ladies.
Considering the recent heavy rains, the course was in pretty good condition thanks to the ground staff's work, with just a few slippery patches on the 7th and 14th but no-one came to any harm.
Julie Lye won the Rose Bowl with 30pts with Jacqui Hills second with 27 pts. Penny Lyne claimed first place for the Rose Basket with 34pts and Mavis Vanstone was second with 30pts.
