Exeter City have quietly and efficiently put a great run together, and travelled back from Bristol with a 2-0 away winand in ninth place in the League One table, writes Gareth Hughes.

The manner of the win was one of their best this season, with their relaxed passing game showing how the players are enjoying their lofty position. Whether it's a long shot or not, there is a possibility of a playoff place.

City's dominance started when Logan's stunning effort from the left-hand side of the box smashed off the crossbar.

The Grecians failed to capitalise even though they continued to press, forcing a string of corners and having plenty of the ball. Best chances fell to former Rovers man Cureton, and to Matt Taylor.

Paul Tisdale made a telling change at the interval, introducing the former Manchester United man Daniel Nardiello for Billy Jones. It was a crucial decision and Exeter finally made the breakthrough and scored the goal they had been pushing for when Rovers failed to clear the ball and the impressive, keeper Logan came off his line allowing Nardiello to smash home a Ryan Harley cross that had been put into his path by Stewart. Nardiello later added his, and Exeter's, second goal in added time when he got onto the end of a Harley pass, rounded the keeper, and slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner to seal the win.

?City star Marcus Stewart, 38, officially retired from playing and his contribution set up the win against his former team. He has made 10 appearances this season, bringing his career tally to 782, having netted over 250 career goals.

Thre is a very positive mood in the City ranks, this Saturday see’s Leyton Orient visit St James Park for what now looks like another key game. Orient are one place above the Grecians and will also be eyeing up a playoff place.

There are just 5 games left this season and seemingly all to play for. Not many would have put too much money on such City progress, but they did not build in the Paul Tisdale factor. With success season after season under his belt who’s to say he and his team cannot build on the successes season to date.

Hopefully you can make it down the park this Saturday and pencil the remaining home games with Oldham and Plymouth in your diary. Come on you Reds. Make the dream work!
