The Devon County Ladies’ Golf Association held their Silver meeting at Stover Golf Club recently, writes Gill Paddon.

It was a Medal round competition with players divided into two divisions, there were scratch and handicap prizes awarded in both divisions.

Many congratulations go to Jane Painter who came second in her division for handicap and third in her division for scratch.

?Last Sunday, the mixed team played against Dartmouth at Sidmouth. Marie Timms, the mixed captain, reported that it was a very exciting match with the first three Sidmouth teams winning their matches, but the second three teams losing so it was down to the last couple, Anne and Terry Blackler . They came up trumps and won their match to secure a four and three win for Sidmouth. The return match is at Dartmouth on July 31.

?Fun and games was had by all on Wednesday, and not just on the golf course! It took two gentlemen and two ladies to assemble a new electric trolley for one of the lady members who became so concerned about not running into anyone that she was heard shouting ‘keep clear – don’t stand in front of me’ as she set off up the first fairway!

They played a Medal round, where every shot counts, the overall winner and winner of Division Two was Lynda Reynolds with a score of 68 reducing her handicap. Dee Bridgewater was the winner of division One, scoring 73 and Penny Ashby won division Three, with a score of 69 which also reduced her handicap. It was an amazing day for handicap reductions. In total, six ladies had their handicaps cut, including Margaret Thompson, Maria Clapp, Liz Chance and Pat Bosshardt. The putting competition was won by Angela Coles with 30 putts. Well done ladies!
