The Sidmouth Golf Club’s President’s team travelled to Downes Crediton for their latest match.
Unfortunately the team lost to an emphatic score line of a half to six-and-a-half. The one ‘half’ recorded by the Sidmouth team was that scored by Maria Clapp, which managed to stave off what would otherwise have been a whitewash!
One of the Sidmouth team, Sheila Faulkner, took her game to the final hole before being edged out. That represents a mighty close contest and her efforts are all the more remarkable given that she had to give her opponent a full 10 shots – and on her own course too! The President’s team is in action again on Monday (May 21) when they will play their first home fixture. They will be taking on Dawlish Warren when hopes are high that they will record a better result than the one they suffered at Crediton.
