The Royal Marines AFC, which play in the Peninsula League, has strong connections with both Sidbury and Sidmouth Town AFC.

The 1st XI manager is Jason Margrett, former manager of Sidmouth 1st team when they finished fifth in the Premier league and won the Morrison Bell Cup and finalists of the East Devon Senior Cup.

James Beverley, former player and manager of Sidmouth 2nd team, is the manager of our newly formed 2nd team which, this year, has gone into the same league as Sidmouth Town 2nd team.

They also have Ben Clay, formerly a Sidbury player, and now permanent fixture at left back for the 1st team and Ben Woolley, also formerly of Sidbury FC, who has made an encouraging start to life in the Peninsula league at full back.

Former Vikings centre midfielder Dan Boere is captain of RMAFC.

With all players and management now back from their operational tour of Afghanistan, they are a lot stronger than last year, when they finished seventh in the league and won the Morrison Bell cup.

A lot of the squad are on leave until September 1, but they beat Ottery 8-1 and Exmouth Town 3-1 in the first fixtures of the season.

Jason said: "Hopefully we can fulfil our potential this year, and better last season's achievements.
