Twenty-one teams of four were signed up in the friendly format of full handicap, best two scores on each hole to count. Various shirts and hats were on display and there were many helpers on hand, including Mick Munro, Sidmouth’s oldest active player who was starter for the day.

Leading the way were the Sidmouth team of Bob Welsman, Pop Banfield, Bob Webber and Colin Macklin who scored a fabulous 96 points, 24 points better than level two’s. In second place were Colston Herbert, Tony Stoyle, Brian Cole and Graham Rogers who amassed an impressive 94 points. In third with 91 points were Colin Paddon, H Thompson, Chris Grubb and Bob Reynolds.

After the golf and a buffet meal, there was an auction and the day raised thousands of pounds for this vital charity which was the most important aspect of the day.
