Last week I reported on the success being enjoyed in County competitions by some of the ladies, including club captain Gail Hawke. Now it is the turn of the men!
There must be a saying in the Hawke household which says “Anything you can do, I can equal”. Men’s Captain Chris, together with partner Ryan Seers, have progressed into the regional final of the Grater Pairs competition.
Then Tony Bushell, Kevin Vernon and Richard Bland edged through the regional final of The County Triples competition, winning 20-19 on the very last end.
On Saturday, the club celebrated its annual President’s Day, and nearly 30 players combined in an afternoon of bowls. Supper was provided by the club catering team and the proceeds of the day amounting to over £400 will be donated to Tiny Tickers, a charity that supports babies who have been born with congenital heart defects and their families.
This charity is special to two members who have young relatives in need of the support that they provide.
