Winscombe 1, Sidmouth and Ottery 6 Sidmouth and Ottery Ladies travelled to Weston-super-Mare on a very frosty morning to face the newly promoted Somerset side, writes Jodie Parsons.

The start was delayed for the frozen pitch to thaw out! When play eventually got under way Sidmouth and Ottery made a bright start with Anna Rowson and Sara Roberts prominent.

It was Nicky Bishop who opened the scoring with a crisp shot.

Sara Roberts soon doubled the lead as the visiting side dominated. When the hosts rallied they got little change out of the impressive Chloe Munn and Lea Pidgeon in defence.

Half-time arrived with Sidmouth and Ottery two goals to the good.

There was more of the same after the break with Molly Adkin and Alice Stafford industrious on the defensive wings nullifying the home threat.

Winscombe halved the deficit, but that merely pushed the visiting team into finding a new gear and they quickly re-established a two goal lead when a Bobbie Caldwell pass found Hannah Watts who applied a polished finish. With Vicky Tarr an ideal foil for Caldwell and

Player of the match Chrissie Mitchell causing all sort of problems for the home side further goals were inevitable.

It was Mitchell who twice got the better of the keeper in one-on-one situations. She then put real icing on the show when she collected a precise pass form Roberts and slammed it home to complete a hat-trick.

It was the perfect way from which to sign off for the festive break and Sidmouth and Ottery will return to action in January looking to repeat excellent performances like this.
