Spencer Jarrett was streets clear of the large Vallence Cup field on Saturday with 44 points; but only the not-inconsiderable sweep money will be his for his social membership precludes him from taking the trophy, writes George Carr.

That meant Steve Milton’s excellent 40 points will allow him to receive the Vallance Cup on Prize-Giving night.

Playing off a handicap of 12 Steve used only nine of his shots to post his wining score. Andrew Dean’s eagle on the 13th helped him to third spot overall, while Stuart Ruffle, on the same score had what have come to be known as rueful-blobs on the first, fourth and 13th which left him in fourth place, a worthy achievement among a field of 60 plus competitors.
