Ben Moon and his rugby friends are about to step out on to a very different 'field' - the cat walk.
The Exeter Chiefs and England star will team up with John Lewis to create an exclusive fashion show extravaganza as part of his testimonial year.
Ben Moon alongside some of his fellow rugby players and carers from the Musgrove hospital will strut down the cat walk, highlighting some must-have summer designs and showing how to wear the latest trends in style on Friday August 27.
Ben said: "I am used to being a front row forward on a rugby pitch and I will be modelling down a cat walk. So as long as I don’t fall I will be very happy! It’ll be nice to see some of my rugby friends doing the same."
The three themes of the ‘Dreams and Desires’ evening will be for both men and women: Wardrobe staples (e.g. White T-shirts, blazers and jeans); Weekend wear (e.g. Sunday walks/lunch, brunch Barbour jackets); Occasion wear (e.g. Weddings, Christmas parties and special dinners).
"I’m really looking forward to wearing clothes from each of the evening themes and raising more money for some great causes close to my heart," said prop Ben.
There will also be some interactive stalls where guests can buy everything from hair and makeup, to perfume and nails, to choices of gin and other refreshing delights.
Anyone attending the Fashion show will also have access to the a summer party at the Stand Off afterwards.
Events for Ben's testimonial year have had to be crammed in over a short period of time. The year actually began in September 2019 but unfortunately was postponed due to lockdown.
Now it has returned with Ben choosing to raise money for two fantastic and worthwhile causes; The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Hospital and the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.
The Ben Moon’s testimonial game is planned at Sandy Park for Saturday, September 4 when his Westcountry Warriors will play Stuart Hogg’s Legionnaires. There will be a star-studded field with Sara Cox, the first professional female rugby referee, in charge of the game. Match-day tickets are on sale via the Exeter Chiefs website ticket hub.
Other events are planned.
“I have been so lucky to be granted a testimonial year. It makes me feel a few inches taller. To be playing for the Chiefs makes me stand a little straighter. To have represented my country and wear the red rose of England makes my chest burst.
“But to do all of this in the last few years with my wife, family, friends and the backing of everyone in Devon and beyond is a feeling like no other.”
Ben, 30, He made is debut for Chiefs in 2008. He has just agreed an extension to his contract.
