Sidmouth Warriors Under-8s powered their way to a 7-2 success against Brixington Blues.

In a flying start, Alastair Mounoury gave them an early lead and it was soon 2-0 with Lucas Vickery the scorer.

Two became three as Mounoury finished off a good team move, but Brixington got one back just before the interval.

Early in the second half the three goal margin was restored when fine skill from Ethan Isaac set up Lucas O’connor to rifle the ball home. Mounoury then took centre stage. First he netted from a corner and then applied a slick finish to a through-ball from Isaac to make it 7-1 before netting his fifth of the game with another clinical finish.

The final goal of the game proved to be a late second for the Exmouth side.

Stepan Hovora had another fine game at the heart of the Warriors’ defence and this left Jamie White with a relatively quiet morning in goal.

Warriors then took on Brixington United and edged them out by the odd goal in five.

This proved to be a close encounter with Warriors taking the lead courtesy of an own goal.

Alastair Mounoury then eased his way past two players before setting up leading scorer Lucas Vickery to make it 2-0, but United got one back before the break.

Early second half chances were squandered and that proved costly as the Exmouth side found an equaliser! Goalkeeper Jamie White made a brace of excellent saves to keep Warriors in the game before ‘goal-machine’ Vickery was once again in the right place at the right time to score what proved to be the winner.

Each and every one of the Warriors players deserve credit for a terrific morning’s work. The Player of the Morning award went to Alastair Mounoury.
