Two N1 Tri Club members were in action at the Stourhead National Trust Estate, Wiltshire, where they took part in a weekend triathlon festival.
Ellie Dominey competed in the ‘mega’ sprint distance (900m swim, 19 mile bike, 4.75 mile run) on the Saturday night, and John Lynch took on the half iron distance (1800m / 56 miles / 13 miles) on the Sunday morning.
Swimming being her weak phase, Ellie was 13th female after the swim, but climbed to fifth after the bike ride and then worked her way into a third place – and a podium spot – finish with a terrific run. She completed the event in a time of 1:56:00.
John was taking part in his first half iron race as a build up towards the full Ironman later in the year.
On a course which is far from fast - the bike and run are both hilly - he put together a superb race to complete in a time of 5:27:00 which represents a terrific result for a debutant at this distance.
