It was a weekend of family activity for members of the N1 triathlon club last weekend, writes Dennis Elliott.

Anne Ephraums confirmed her early season form with a storming performance at the Roadford Lake Sprint event.

She was second in her age group third lady over all in 1:32:01. It has to be reported she beat her husband Jim too who also came second in his age group, well done both. Terry Pares entered his first ever open water event, the standard distance, being 1500metres swimming, 40km bike and a 10km run.

Now Terry will match anyone of his age in bike and run, but his swimming is work in progress. The chilly water of Roadford was no help to him on this occasion!

The Livingstone Family took part in the BUPA Westminster mile - all six of them – and not surprisingly star triathlete Patrick led them home in a race that was also the British Mile Championship.

He recorded a time of four minutes 46 seconds to claim 12th place which shows great promise as he still has a year left in the junior age category.

The Elliott family were at Dorney Lakes Eton. Club secretary Liz is in final training for the British Triathlon Championships at Nottingham and was very pleased to win her age category in the 750 metre swim event.

Son Tom was delighted to complete the 3.3-mile swim race in one hour 22 minutes to bag eighth spot in his age group. He used the event as training for his forthcoming Ironman race and so his performance was most encouraging. Club chairman Dennis Elliott joined Tom in the 3.3-mile race and was most amused to find feeding stations laid out along the route, he took advantage of course!
