Neil Holland shot a six under gross score and yet had to settle for second place in the latest Charles Stanley Monday stableford at Sidmouth, writes Chris Roberts.

It was Bob Skelly who took top spot with a haul of 44 points including a four point birdie on the 17th.

However, the story of the day was Neil Holland with that stunning six under par gross score of 60.

His round included no fewer than eight birdies including three two’s. With a handicap of plus one his total for the day was 41 which was equalled by Thomas Thompson also with 41, but Neil’s 29 shots, four under par, back nine left him in second place on countback.

Following Neil’s round the birdie table is even more a one-horse race with the Holland season’s total standing at 83 with his nearest challenger being club manager Jonathan Lee 31 behind on 52!
