Sidmouth Under-16s were severely depleted by the half-term holidays for their meeting at home to Thorverton.
The side’s had met in Mid Devon a couple of weeks before when the Thors had won, but this game was bossed, for the large part, by the hosts with Tyler Wellman orchestrating things from midfield.
The first chance of the contest was created by Joe Miller who showed quick feet to create the opportunity that Tom Orchard was a fraction short of getting on the end of.
The opening goal came from the penalty spot with Jack DeWinton fouled and skipper Jamie Newberry slotted the spot kick.
After the break the visitors pressed, but Devon Under-16 player Newberry was once again imperious at the heart of his sides defence and the second and final goal arrived via an Orchard header to give Sidmouth a deserved three points.
