Jamie Spiller (Nobby) started his round in Monday’s Charles Stanley Stableford with two birdies and finished it with a third on the 18th to win with 42 points, writes George Carr.

He was pressed hard by Kym White with the same score and a very good back nine - not quite good enough, however, to pip Jamie, but a good second place holding Alan Billinghurst at bay whose’ steady golf also produced 42 points for third spot.

Among three players on 39 points, Mervyn Baker must be rueing the blobs he recorded on the seventh and 18th.

John Eaton ‘s steady golf, also for 39, was not quite enough on the day, nor that of Howard Cushing on the same score. Well played gentlemen.
