Families run for fun at Sidmouth

Guess your Time run proves popular
THE Guess your Time fun event was put on for all abilities so that everyone from the Juniors up to experienced runners, and even the little ones could take part.
It was organised by myself and Naomi Garrick, with the course marked out by Ben Chesters and novice timekeeper Chris Roberts.
Ben had set a short course of two miles and a long one of four miles and the aim was to guess how long the run would take you.
No watches were allowed during the run and the closest to their guess would be the winner. Trophies and Medals were given out to the winners, with the top award for the closest time on the short course going to Justin Ashby and his son Wills. Their time was within three minutes of their estimate but the ‘amazing’ guess of just five seconds over his estimate, came from the winner of the long course, Guy Bennett (25 minutes).
After breaking his arm, it was great to see Matt Szala back - not running, but he came up to support the event, and Matt and Guy presented the best fancy dress medals to the Power Rangers, twins Freddie and Charlie Roberts.
Colin Flood and Louise Brown turned up in force with Louise’s two daughters Sarah and Olivia, plus her grandchildren Izzy and Toby. Nice to see you all! Colin and Louise ran the long course together and took second place just eight seconds off their estimate. Also running the four mile route were John Perratt, Martin Laidler, Arthur Vince and Zak Francis, plus two new additions Emily Roberts and Laura Spence.
It was more of a family event for the two miles. Speedy youngster, Jack West, was the first back to the finish line. Miss Hawaii, in disguise as Naomi Garrick, made sure all runners were back safe and sound as back marker.
l The Juniors (age 8-16) still meet at Core Copse at 9am - 10.15am each Saturday (check our website under Junior section, as we meet in various locations for the first Saturday of the month or for local races).
It is in a safe, off road environment.
Sessions include relays, endurance/short distances, hill work, time trials, fun games and races.
