Colin Flood and John Docherty were on the start line of last weekend’s Crediton Crunch, writes John Perratt.
The pair were joined by 200 other runners in a scenic multi terrain race of about 19 km taking in the grounds of Downes House, former home of Sir Redvers Buller.
He is the chap on a horse outside Exeter College, the one always with a traffic cone on his head!
Flood romped home in 54.02 with Docherty just under the hour at 59.50.
Not far away at a revival of the Killerton Kanter, young Jason Drew was third overall and the First Male under 20 in the tough 10k off road route through the grounds of the National Trust property.
His time of 43.34 was impressive enough for a young man, some weeks away from his sixteenth birthday, but he surpassed that the very next day with 42.26 in the run leg of a Relay Triathlon, anchoring his team to a convincing win.
It looks as if this will become his favourite distance for a while.
