Petanque Club news: The last open event of the summer - a mixed doubles competition on Sunday - attracted 13 teams from Isca, Tiverton and Ottery St Mary petanque clubs.
Entrance fees were returned in the form of prize money for the four teams competing for first, second, third and fourth in the play-off finals.
Alan and Linda Godfrey were impressively unbeaten throughout and deserved their first place win over Pete and Viv Jones. Both pairs are from the Otters Club.
Brian and Audrey Kempshead, from Tiverton, took third place from Rick Preston and Liz Folland of the Isca club.
This follows the Otters' success in winning the Devon League this year and playing a part in the Devon defeat of Cornwall at the Otters' Salston Club.
Anyone interested in playing the game at Ottery St Mary can contact club secretary Dave West (01404) 812292, and enjoy four free introductory sessions.
