The final Friday of the month (April 28) sees the start of the Ottery St Mary Bowls Club’s Open Weekend, writes Michael Smith.
New bowlers are invited to get along to the clubs home in Strawberry Lane (next to the Ottery St Mary Cricket Club) from 4pm.
There’s a special event ‘Bowls 4 Fun’ and the only requirement is that folk attending and wishing to try out bowls turn up with some suitable flats shoes or trainers.
The club’s very own BDA coaches, John and Terri Ward, will be on hand to offer expert advice and coaching, all equipment will be provided.
The ‘Bowls 4 Fun’ event continues on Saturday (April 29) from 11am and again on Sunday (April 30), from 10am through to 1pm.
Everybody will be welcomed at what is well known as a most friendly bowls club.
Indeed the message is one of: “Please come along and give the sport a try.”
