Ottery St Mary dished up arguably the ‘result of their season’ to date when they made Grandisson Cup progress on Tuesday night with a 4-0 success against Feniton Reserves.

Matt Daley headed home a first half corner to give the Otters a half-time lead. After the break they added three more through Adam Harris, Connor Lovering and leading scorer Corey Ringer – his latest strike coming from the penalty spot.

Ottery boss Dave Fairweather said: “The result is indeed exceptional. I was not too happy with the 90 minute performance though. We were pretty average in the first half, but improved significantly after the break to end up deserving winners.”

He continued: “Results like this really do underline what we are capable of as a team and it’s great that we are able to extend our season with cup runs and long may they continue.”

The Otters will host Axmouth United in the quarter-finals on a date to be announced – the tie has to be played before April 15.

The full quarter-final draw is: Beer Albion or Chard Town Res v Heavitree Res, Lyme Regis v Sidmouth Town Res, Ottery St Mary v Axmouth United and Tipton St John v East Budleigh.

As for their next action, Ottery have a Macron League Division Three game at Pinhoe on Saturday (March 31) and then play again on Easter Monday (April 2) when they entertain Winchester in a Bill Slee Cup quarter-final that kicks off at 2pm.
