Ottery St Mary 2nd XI will line up next summer in the second tier of Francis Clark Devon League cricket after securing second place in the B Division, writes Stephen Birley.

The Otters completed a glorious campaign with a 13th success in 15 outings, beating Alphington by seven wickets.

The side has been skippered this term by Rob Crabb who has led the team superbly. Not that it’s been a one-man show for all involved have played their part.

There were just eight points between champions Budleigh Salterton II and Ottery in the final table.

Next season the Otters will rub shoulders with Chudleigh and Cornwood who have both been relegated from the top flight and also tackle Plymstock, Ipplepen, Hatherleigh, Plymouth III, Barton, Budleigh (who went up with them) as well as Bradninch.

The latter will be the Otters local derby.
