Ottery St Mary will launch a new Macron Devon and Exeter League season with a home game.

The Otters entertain Priory on the opening day of the Division Four season, Saturday, August 27.

Indeed, it’s very much a case of home comforts for the Otters at the start of their campaign with no were than nine of their first 12 games being at their Washbrook Meadow home.

The only away league trips for the Otters are a visit to Pinhoe on September 24, the return with opening day opponents Priory on October 8 and the long trek to Morchard Bishop which is scheduled for November 19.

Ottery play their first home pre-season fixture tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Ilminster Town Reserves with the game kicking off at 2pm. The Otters began their warm-up matches last Saturday when a scratch side travelled to North Tawton where they were beaten 5-1.

Kyle Hartnoll, one of a number of new youngsters to become available in terms of age after coming through the Ottery youth ranks, scored the goal.

The contest was closer than the score line suggests with the hosts scoring three of their goals in the closing stages.

Otters boss Dave Fairweather said: “It was a good work-out and we are looking forward to the Ilminster game.”
