Otterton left kicking heels

OTTERTON FC were left kicking their heels for the third successive Saturday when their Premier Division game at Hatherleigh was called off early in the morning and, unlike the previous two weekend postponements, this was nothing to do with the weather. Otterton boss Richard Tapp explained saying: "I had a call at 9am on the Saturday morning from the people at Hatherleigh to say that overnight joy riders had driven a car or cars around the pitch and done so much damage that even a local farmer's heavy roller would not get the surface back ready for football later that day. It is so frustrating because it means that we now go into Saturday's game at Feniton looking for our first taste of action in nearly a month!" At least Tapp and his men can count on a game this weekend for their scheduled hosts Feniton have, at Acland Park, a playing surface that seems to defy the very worst the elements can throw at it, although with the way the Otterton matchday luck is running in recent weeks don't bet against it raining cats and dogs! Tapp did take the opportunity last weekend to run the rule over Feniton in their 2-0 defeat at Budleigh and he says: "Hopefully I picked up one or two pointers which will serve us well at Acland Park on Saturday, weather and everything else permitting, of course." Otterton's last top flight outing was the 3-1 defeat at University on October 11 and their last Premier Division win was the 1-0 victory at Beer on September 20.
