Ottery St Mary’s bowlers welcomed the first touring side of the season last week.
Westlecot arrived with six rinks and, with the weather being kind, the rinks were shared three-all, with Ottery winning overall 124-98, Carol Keating, Charlie Griffin, Tony Luff and skip Shirley Fewtrell had a resounding 34-7 success.
The next day Feniton were the visitors, but this time Ottery went down three rinks to two and 73-101 overall, the best Ottery rink was a 21-19 win by Richard Chapple, Jill White, Fred Dart and skip Mollie Parker.
In the men’s Over 60s League Ottery got off to a disappointing start with all three teams only coming away with two points between them, although each team did manage a win on one rink.
The week ended with another home fixture against Madeira, again the rinks were shared at three-all, with Madeira winning overall 87-113, the best Ottery rink was Pam Baker, Celia Russell, Tony Bushell and skip Ray Luscombe with a 17-10 victory.
