One of East Devon’s most promising young cricketers is making a bold move to the county's top-flight Premier Division.
Lawrence Walker of Ottery St Mary is joining Sandford for the 2021 season after making a big impression for both club and county over the last seven years - he's still only 16.
Ottery play in the Devon League C Division East, but Walker is reported to have been approached by several top sides after confirming his talent with a series of impressive performances for the county.
Ottery captain Alex Clements told the Devon League website: "He had a few offers from various teams, and he went for Sandford.
"I had a chat with Lawrence, and I had to put my coaching hat on. He's ambitious and he wants to test himself at the highest level.
"He's been open and honest all the way through. It's disappointing to lose him, but we wish him all the best."
