Ottery St Mary suffered a sixth straight defeat and are now 31 points from safety in the Tolchards Devon League B Division following a narrow two wicket defeat to the side who had started the say in the bottom two with them, Thorverton.
Joe Henkus top scored with 43 and there were contributions of 28, from Harry Conway, and 27 from Dan Flower, as the Otters closed on 159.
The Thors were made to work hard for their first win of the league season, getting home with just two wickets to spare.
Tom Jeacock, Dan Jeacock and Henry Mutter each claiming two wickets.
