Ottery St Mary head into this Saturday’s Express Cup tie at home to Sandford looking to bounce back after the midweek 2-1 defeat to Otterton.

The Otters can consider themselves a little unfortunate to have started their Fresha League Division Five campaign with a narrow defeat.

Both visiting goals came from set-pieces – as did the home goal – and all three goals were scored in the second half.

With Ottery boss Mike Dawe on holiday Reserve boss Dave Fairweather was the man in the dugout and he said of the game: “It was a decent performance from an eleven that was very much of the ‘thrown together’ type. We had a number of influential regular first team players missing and so cannot be too disappointed with the result. I felt we gave as good as we got and were in fact in the contest right through to the final whistle.”
