Ottery St Mary are in Francis Clark Devon League action tomorrow (1.30pm) when they entertain Chagford at Salston Field (1.30pm), writes Stephen Birley.

Ottery have five to play and every one of the teams they meet between now and the final game of the season on the last day of this month currently sit below them in the C Division.

The Otters sit fifth in the section, 54-points short of second placed Axminster.

Skipper Jody Clements says: “Sadly it looks as if a promotion bid is just going to be out of reach. It’s possible, of course, but making up 54 points with 100 to play with is a very tall order. We’d also need the benefit of a big set of surprise results. For our part we can only keep on winning and if we were to bank the majority of the remaining 100 points on offer then we’d not be too far away come the final day of the campaign.”

James Faulkner and Joe Birch return to the side for the visit of Chagford with Rob Crabb and Alex Clements dropping down to the 2nd XI who do have a promotion bid very much on track and they go to Stoke Gabriel II looking to strengthen their grip on a top two berth in the 2nd XI B Division.
