The annual Redfern Trophy was played for the sixth year on Saturday when six Ottery teams played teams from six other clubs.

After a competitive afternoon, a team from Ottery retained the cup with a score of +37. The presentation of the trophy was made by Tim Wright, of Redferns, to the winning team of Graham Temple Norman Lawrence Margaret Bright and David Nangle.

It was very close for second place between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton, both teams scoring 34 points, but Sidmouth were declared Runners Up on the lost points difference.

Sunday was Captain’s Day when members of the club played each other on seven rinks. It was a fun afternoon when each member of the team moved to a new position after five ends. At the end of the match, members enjoyed a hog roast provided by members of the club. The day was rounded off with club member Eric Saunders giving a little party piece. Maggie Beighton, the club captain, announced that the money raised from the day would go to a local charity.

The following day, the Leicester City and District Parks Bowling Association’s touring team were the visitors, playing a match on five rinks.
