A fabulous partnership and some deadly bowling ensured Ottery St Mary cruised to a nine-wicket victory at home to Exmouth 2nds in C Division East of the Tolchards DCL.

The visitors opted to bat first and made steady progress in the early stages before Max Mayor took control of the game, removing three of Exmouth’s top four batsmen.

At 58/3, Exmouth were in a reasonable position but they lost their remaining seven wickets for just 56 further runs. As well the three wickets for Mayor, Jody Clements also took a treble and there were two more for Sam O’Nyons.

Ottery lost opener Matthew Jeacock for seven but Exmouth were unable to find another breakthrough, as Alex Clements (63) and Jonathan Triner (24) breezed to the total in less than 22 overs.

Ottery host Sandford 2nds on Saturday and a chance to break into the top two of the division.
