Easter Sunday saw the start of the 2017 summer season for Ottery St Mary Bowling Club, writes Michael Smith.
Club president Gerry Beighton duly got proceedings underway by bowling the first wood of the ‘Opening Drive’.
Over 40 members enjoyed a fine start to the season with a chilly but sunny afternoon’s bowling, before that Dave Rose had the nearest wood to the jack in the first ‘Spider’ competition, winning a bottle of wine in the process, kindly donated by Clive and Celia Russell.
After the game members retired to the club house to enjoy a well earned drink at the bar.
Club captain Terri Ward presented the best winning rink with an Easter Egg for each member, once again Dave Rose was the winning skip with his team of Margaret Trayhurn, Derek Hunt and Chris Hawke.
