Ottery St Mary’s Tom Simmons has just returned from a two week tour of South Africa with the Devon Under-15 team, writes Hannah Wright.
Tom, a student at Colyton Grammar School, as well as the main purpose of the trip to play cricket, also spent time in the Kruger National Park and Cape Town.
As well as playing cricket against local teams, the boys were also given the chance to gain a valuable insight into what life is like for people living in these areas.
When asked whether he enjoyed the trip, Tom, who is from Ottery, said: “It was a really great experience.”
He hopes to have many more similar opportunities in future.
