Ottery St Mary boss Mike Dawe will be missing when his team launch their Fresha League campaign on Tuesday evening with Otterton the visitors to Washbrook Meadow.

Dawe will be holidaying in Spain, but will be keeping in touch with the game having put skipper Matt Daly in charge of things in his absence.

It’ll be the fourth game of the season for Otterton and that, along with nine missing players is cause for concern for Dawe who says: “Having as many as nine players unavailable is a blow and the fact that Otterton are playing a fourth league game and look to have made a bright start, stacks the odds against us.

“However, it’s a real opportunity for other players to show us what they can bring to the team and I am looking forward to hearing from Matt (Daly) just how they fare individually and collectively.”

With regard to Otterton, Dawe said: “I see they beat Beer Reserves handsomely last time out and in the past they have always presented themselves as a solid well organised and experience side. I think the best approach for us will be to use fast crisp passing and with good movement combined with pace I think we’ll be OK.”
